About

Hi everybody and welcome to my food blog!

My name is Dunja (Doonya) and I live in Tampa, FL with my husband Mark and our two dogs Sasha and Cynder.  I am not a chef or anything, but I just love good food. Mark always jokes around that making food is my hobby. He loves to eat it though and he is not a bad cook himself, if I might add. 🙂

I decided to create a food blog for two reasons. First one being I can never remember any recipes I come up with or I lose the ones people give me. I also have a really hard time following a recipe. I figured if I’m going to blog about the food I make, I have to actually write it down for once.  The other reason is that I like to share my recipes with friends and whoever is willing to listen. I think everybody should be excited about good food.

I was exposed to multiple cultures and cuisines from an early age. I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and lived in multiple countries in Europe until I moved to the States at 13. My mom is also an excellent cook and she has taught me a lot of tips and tricks. She works in the food business and can whip up something delicious in matter of minutes.  If I mess up a dish she is my first phone call, since she is the queen of saving a meal.  When I started dating Mark I started being exposed to the Latin cuisine as well. He was born and grew up in Panama and his family has plenty of delicious recipes I will be sharing with you.

In today’s world most people are exposed to different cuisines around the world and they are starting to adapt those influences in their cooking. Even your typical chain restaurants are starting to add dishes that were inspired by other parts of the world. The restaurant trend also seems to go to the “fusion” food concept, where multiple cuisines are combines into one. In today’s world we eat and cook different types of food all the time, hence the name “Modern Day Cook.”

I hope you enjoy my blog and your comments are always welcome 🙂

Cheers!

~Dunja
